Makes 36 biscuits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>125g wholemeal flour<br>125g plain white flour<br>250g medium oatmeal<br>125g sugar<br>1 1\/4 teaspoon bicarb of soda<br>1 1\/4 teaspoon salt<br>185g cold butter, diced or grated<br>2 eggs, beaten<br>2 &#8211; tablespoons milk<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Preheat the oven to 190c and line baking trays with baking parchment.<br>Put all the ingredients except the egg and milk into a food processor and whizz together until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. If you don&#8217;t have a food processor then use a large bowl and rub the butter into the dry ingredients (like making pastry)<br>Add enough egg to bring the dough together without being too wet. If it seems too dry then add a splash of milk.<br>Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface until 3mm thick.<br>Cut out the biscuits, arrange spaced apart on the baking trays and prick over with a fork.<br>Bake for 15 &#8211; 20 minutes until golden.<br>Cool on the trays for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack to crisp up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I divide the dough into 3, putting 2 lots into the freezer to bake at a later date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tastier than shop bought.
